About 90% of brain development happens before age six.
These early years are a precious “golden window” for learning. By supporting early childhood learning, you help give a child the foundation to learn, grow, and discover what they can do.
Give A Child the Chance to Learn to Learn Early
The earliest years of childhood are a precious window for learning.
Between ages three and six, children are discovering how to communicate, make sense of the world, solve problems, relate to others, and find joy in learning.
For many young Indigenous Peoples (IP) children in Paluan, however, opportunities for meaningful early childhood learning can be limited.
Protect the Golden Years of Learning seeks to help change that.
Through the Children’s Discovery Camp, Lift PH Up aims to provide young IP children with structured, age-appropriate learning experiences that nurture foundational literacy, numeracy, language, cognitive, social-emotional, and developmental skills.
Learning should begin with curiosity
We believe young children learn best when learning is engaging, welcoming, and appropriate to their age and community.
That is why the Children’s Discovery Camp brings together educational television, guided activities, storytelling, creative expression, movement, play, and hands-on experiences.
The goal is not simply to prepare children for school.
It is to help them discover that learning can be something they enjoy.
Protecting the Years When Foundations Are Built
A child’s earliest learning experiences can help shape the transition into formal education.
Through this program, Lift PH Up seeks to create opportunities for children to develop foundational skills while building confidence, curiosity, communication, and a positive relationship with learning.
And because the Children’s Discovery Camp is still being built, there are ways to begin supporting children’s learning even before the physical Camp is ready.
What Protect the Golden Years of Learning Can Make Possible
Ready to Learn
A school-readiness initiative for children preparing to enter formal education.
Little Readers
An early literacy initiative using stories, books, educational television content, and guided activities.
Counting Our Way Forward
A foundational numeracy project using games, objects, educational television, and hands-on activities.
Learning Through Play
A structured play-based component supporting children’s cognitive, physical, and social development.
These are practical ways to help create meaningful learning experiences for young children while contributing to the larger vision of the Children’s Discovery Camp.
How You Might Help
Perhaps your organization believes in early childhood development.
Perhaps you support literacy, education, children’s programming, teacher development, or community-based learning.
Perhaps you simply believe that every child deserves the opportunity to discover the joy of learning during these important early years.
We’d love to explore what we might make possible together.
You don’t have to fund the entire Children’s Discovery Camp to help protect a child’s golden years of learning.
You can help begin with a story.
A learning activity.
A book.
A school-readiness session.
Or simply an opportunity for a child to discover: “I can learn.”
